Paper crafts for your home workshop
These paper crafts begin with a sheet you already have. Gather a ruler, scissors and a pencil before clearing a corner of the table.

Choosing materials for paper crafts
Hold a sheet up to the light. A thin one lets the next colour show through, while card keeps a sharper crease.
Two paper crafts step by step
Start with your small offcuts and keep the larger pieces for another day. Clear the table and fold a test sheet before you cut into a colour you want to save.

A corner bookmark
Cut a 12 cm square of flexible paper. Fold it diagonally. With the point facing up, fold both side corners to the point and open them again. Fold just the front layer of the top point down to the middle of the base. Lift the side corners again and tuck them into the pocket you have made. Slide the triangle over the corner of a page.

A gift tag
Cut a 4 × 7 cm piece of card. Glue two thin scraps of different colours at one end and leave the middle clear for writing. Round the corners with scissors, punch one end and thread it with ribbon. Let the ink dry before tying the tag to the parcel.

A lightweight flower
Stack a few thin sheets and cut a length of thread to tie them together. To make a two-tone edge, alternate the colours before folding. Follow the flower tutorial to shape the accordion and gently open each layer.

Make a folded ivory card with three shades of green, a burgundy backing and an optional gold star. Includes cutting measurements and assembly instructions.

Draw a snowy cottage for the front, plan a divided back for your message and address, and test two copies on one sheet before printing.

Arrange a snapshot, a ticket and a handwritten note across two pages. Try a dry layout, mount the photo with corners and make a pocket for a keepsake.

Print a botanical motif on card with a sponge and a little paint. Learn to secure the stencil, keep the leaf tips sharp and move the pattern without smudging it.

Set up an index, try three symbols in a daily log and decide what deserves space next month. A worked example shows how the pages fit together.

Learn to tell the two drawing triangles apart, then use one as a guide to draw a parallel or a perpendicular through a chosen point.
